These past six days we took a little getaway from this cold Wisconsin weather to Jamaica which was incredibly beautiful. As on any vacation, I took 500+ pictures. Lucky for you, I won’t share them all but here’s a few of them from our vacation…
We stayed at the Grand Palladium resort which I would highly recommend to anyone who loves extra large pools! Right when we arrived, I could feel my shoulders relax and the heat screaming “take that jacket off”. I gladly obliged. We were greeted by the friendly staff with drinks in hand before we even had our luggage off the bus. It was bliss.
After dropping our bags in our room, we spent a good two hours wondering around with our jaws on the floor in aww of the resort. It was stunning. There were a lot of excusrions that we could take through the resort and a ton of night life including a sports bar, disco, casino, live shows every night, activities (karaoke, dance/dj parties, etc.) going on at the Infinity bar (which was the main bar). There was also water activities like kayaking, wind surfing, and snorkeling that we could do during the day. (We ended up kayaking on day three but I didn’t get a picture of it…bummmmmmed!!)
The first night we went to the Mexican restaurant and the food there was delicious! My favorite was the chicken taquitos for the appetizer and Mr. C. was loving the chocolate mousse cake with Oreo crust. Can you blame him?!
The second day we were going to take an excursion to the waterfalls, seeing the wildlife, and visiting the Rum distillery but it was cancelled so we lounged around by the pool all day. Fine with me! Although for as much sunscreen as I put on, I got so burnt it hurt to sit down. Luckily I was wearing SPF 50 on my face but I didn’t think I would need it on my entire body…yeesh. Hence the reason for the crazy girl wearing a longer sleeve in Jamaica. Sunburn = Erin getting chilly quick! We went to the seafood restaurant that night and this was by far my favorite one. The crab cakes and grilled shrimp skewers were seriously to die for!
The next morning I woke up early so I could catch the sunrise. Little did I know, the resort that we stayed at didn’t have a good view of the sunrise. In fact, I was holding my camera up over a cement wall and standing right outside of someone’s room at 6am trying to get a good shot. They didn’t turn out so hot but since I was up I figured I might as well take some shots of the resort while it was so quiet. And that 86,000 (yes, three zeros) pool doesn’t stay empty for long I’ll tell you that. Seriously…it was the biggest pool I’ve ever seen in my life! Those pool lounge chairs made it all sorts of inviting too!
Jerk chicken is made down by the ocean! So yummy!
They have the most beautiful sunsets ever in this country!
The last full day of our trip, we went to Seven Mile Beach/Margaritaville in Negril, shopping at one of the local malls, and Rick’s Cafe. It was nice to get out of the resort for the day and see the town. I had to pinch myself a couple times when I was watching the sunset. The oranges and yellows were so stunning that they didn’t seem real at all!
It also confirmed for me that these people are some of the most laid back people you’ve ever met in your life! And they are ALLL on island time. Even the plane was on island time! By the end of the trip though, we were saying “Jah Mon” and taking our time getting to places (at least I was…Mr. C. was always a mile ahead of me but that’s nothing new).
It was such a treat to experience this gorgeous country and I would go back in a heartbeat! Have you been to Jamaica? If not, I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a romantic getaway or getting a group of friends together and going!
